Sysäys ry is looking for one circus artist and one musician for the participatory project Stories in Motion, in which a new circus and music work is produced together with the elderly.
The working period will last about a month in October–December 2026. In addition, the project will include about 4–6 separate performances in the municipalities of Pirkanmaa. More detailed working hours will be agreed with the selected artists.
During the project, the artists will visit elderly services in Pirkanmaa. During the visits, memories, stories and local cultural heritage will be collected through discussions, joint activities and artistic methods. Based on these, an approximately 20-minute performance and a related workshop will be produced.
The work will include a few days a week in the elderly services and rest of the time is reserved for independent artistic work. The artists have access to a rehearsal and work space at Sysäys ry's studio on the Orivesi campus.
At the end of the project, the finished performance will tour the participating municipalities of Pirkanmaa. The performance will remain part of Sysäys ry's repertoire, so additional performances are possible later.
You can also apply for the position as a ready-made working pair.
The artistic implementation of the project is largely in the hands of the selected artists. We hope that applicants will be interested in community-oriented work and want to build a work in interaction with the participants. The project will also employ a part-time coordinator who is responsible for production and administration.
